Bǐng (丙) is Yang Fire — the sun. Wǔ (午) is the Horse, the branch where Fire reaches its peak (帝旺, the position of flourishing). Put together, 丙午 is a year of doubled Fire: warm, visible, fast-moving, and quick to start things. The Horse also belongs to the Fire trine with the Tiger and Dog, so the year favors alliances and bold movement.
Fire dominates, with a thin thread of Earth hidden inside the Horse branch (午 hides 丁 Fire and 己 Earth). For the five elements, this means Metal is under pressure (Fire melts Metal), Wood is drained but expressive (Wood feeds Fire), Earth is warmed and supported (Fire produces Earth), and Water is challenged yet powerful (Water controls Fire — the only element that can check it).
Metal Day Masters feel the officer pressure — the year asks for discipline and structure. Wood Day Masters pour energy into output — a creative, expressive year that can also drain. Earth Day Masters receive resource — support, study, and mentors come easier. Water Day Masters face Fire as wealth — opportunity, but it must be chased. Fire Day Masters meet a year of their own element — momentum, but also competition.
The Horse year is the Horse's own year (值太岁, the year of one's own sign), so Horses should pace themselves and avoid burnout. The Rat sits opposite the Horse (子午冲) — a year of change and movement. The Ox has a harm relationship with the Horse (丑午害), and the Rabbit a break (卯午破) — both call for care with details and relationships. The Tiger, Dog, and Goat are in harmony: the Tiger and Dog share the Fire trine with the Horse, and the Goat forms a six-harmony (午未合).
The Chinese year begins at Lì Chūn (立春, Start of Spring), around February 3–5, 2026. Fire peaks in the summer months — Xià Zhì (夏至, Summer Solstice) around June 21 marks the high point of the year's energy, a good window to launch and push. From Qiū Fēn (秋分, Autumn Equinox) in late September the energy cools and turns inward, favoring consolidation. Dōng Zhì (冬至, Winter Solstice) around December 21 is the quiet turning point — a time to plan rather than push.
