The Horse (马 · Mǎ) is the seventh animal of the cycle, and its fixed element is Fire. In the traditional reckoning the Horse is the branch 午, the sign of spirit, movement, and the sun at its highest point. Recent Horse years include 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990, and 1978.
In folk BaZi culture, the Horse and the Goat form what is called a "six harmony" (六合) — the closest and most supportive relationship between two signs, read as a secret friendship in which each animal completes the other. Coming straight out of its own year in 2026, the Horse moves into 2027 with the year's animal as its closest ally. Traditional culture reads a 午未合 year as one of ease and backing: the Horse's spirit and the Goat's patience temper each other, and the two Fire-and-Earth animals work together rather than at odds.
The Horse's 2027 joins Fire with Earth. The Horse is Fire, the Goat's branch 未 is Earth, and the year's stem 丁 is again Fire — so the Horse meets a year of doubled Fire flowing into Earth, its own element repeated and then grounded. Because Fire produces Earth, the year's heat is absorbed rather than scattered, which suits the Horse: the traditional reading is of energy that is strong but well-housed, spirit that has somewhere steady to land.
The Chinese year begins at Lì Chūn (立春), around February 3–5, 2027. For the Horse, who just closed its own Fire Horse year in 2026, the Fire Goat year is a softer sequel — the same warmth, now turned toward patience and building rather than speed. The year's rhythm — a planning spring, a low and steady summer, and a consolidating autumn and winter — rewards the Horse's long stride with a gentler pace.
