The Pig (猪 · Zhū) is the twelfth and final animal of the cycle, and its fixed element is Water. In the traditional reckoning the Pig is the branch 亥, the sign of sincerity, contentment, and the quiet completion of the cycle. Recent Pig years include 2031, 2019, 2007, 1995, and 1983.
In folk BaZi culture, the Pig, the Rabbit, and the Goat together form the Wood trine 亥卯未 — a three-harmony alliance (三合) in which the animals complete one another. Because the Goat is the year's own animal in 2027, the Pig stands on the year's supportive side. Traditional culture reads a 三合 year as one of backing and ease: the Pig's natural partners are near, and its sincere, easygoing way of moving is favored rather than resisted.
The Pig's 2027 runs through three elements: the Pig's Water, the year's Yin Fire (丁), and the Goat's Earth (未). The Pig is Water, which controls Fire — so the Pig's own element is the one force that can temper the year's flame — while the Goat's Earth, in turn, holds the Pig's Water in check. The traditional reading is of a year balanced between two gentle counterweights: the Pig's Water both cools the year's heat and is quietly contained by the year's Earth, a steadiness that suits the Pig's own nature.
The Chinese year begins at Lì Chūn (立春), around February 3–5, 2027. The Pig closes the twelve-animal cycle, and the Fire Goat year's rhythm — patient, low-summer, consolidating — is the Pig's own temperament drawn large. It is read as a year for finishing things well, keeping good faith, and letting the cycle's quiet close make room for the next beginning.
