The Rabbit (兔 · Tù) is the fourth animal of the cycle, and its fixed element is Wood. In the traditional reckoning the Rabbit is the branch 卯, the sign of gentleness, diplomacy, and quiet refinement. Recent Rabbit years include 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, and 1975.
In folk BaZi culture, certain animals form an alliance called a "three harmony" (三合): the Rabbit, the Pig, and the Goat together make the Wood trine 亥卯未. Because the Goat is the year's own animal in 2027, the Rabbit rides on the year's supportive side. Traditional culture reads a 三合 year as one of backing and ease — not a year of friction, but a year in which the Rabbit's natural partners are close at hand and its own gentle way of moving is favored.
The Rabbit's 2027 runs through three elements: the Rabbit's Wood, the year's Yin Fire (丁), and the Goat's Earth (未). In the trine 亥卯未, Wood is the binding element, and the year's Fire is fed by that Wood — so the Rabbit's own element both joins the alliance and fuels the year's flame. The traditional reading is supportive but not idle: Wood that feeds Fire is spent in the process, so the counsel is to enjoy the year's favor while keeping a steady hand on one's own energy.
The Chinese year begins at Lì Chūn (立春), around February 3–5, 2027. For the Rabbit, whose own animal is the gentlest of the cycle, the Fire Goat year's rhythm suits it well: a quiet spring for planning, a low and sustained summer warmth, and an autumn and winter that reward the patient finishing of what was begun.
